Chili Cooks Info & Sign Up

Welcome to the San Manuel, AZ Chili Cook-Off ! Sign-up to compete and bring on your favorite chili recipe! Instructions are below.

Cost – Entry in the competition is $25 per team with up to 4 members per team. Open to beginner thru expert.

Applications – You will need fill out both a Chili Cook-Off Sign Up form and also a county Temporary Food Booth Application form. Download and print the pdf’s below…

The forms and payment must reach us by April 1st. Please fill out both application forms and mail them with a check to:

You can also get the two forms or drop them off locally with your payment by contacting Jessie David at 520-999-5422.

Awards – There will be four trophy awards–one winner in each chili category and one overall peoples choice.

Motel & RV – Find motel accommodations, RV spaces, attractions, and places to eat here.

Chefs’ Schedule – Cooks need to setup between 7am & 8am and be ready for an inspection that takes place between 8am & 9am on the day of the cook-off. Event goes public 10am to 6pm. Chili tasting starts at noon to 3pm and winners are announced at 5pm.

Your Booth – Bring a canopy to cover your booth along with side walls to protect your work area from possible debris. Gloves and masks will need to be supplied by you as well as a fire extinguisher at your booth. (More info in the Temporary Food Booth Application form).

Also, you will need to bring a gas cooker or BBQ and can use electric if you bring your own generator.

Chili Cooking – Make at least 2 gallons of red, verde or home-style chili to have enough for tasting and judging. All food needs to be prepared onsite. Cups will be provided for taste testing. Cooks need food worker certification.

Food Storage – Meats and such can be stored at a commercial refrigeration area before use. We are working on having a commercial food storage for contestants. We will contact you closer to the Cook-Off to inform you where you can store your meats if necessary.

Ice is sold in San Manuel at Salt ‘N Pepper gas station, Family Dollar & Dollar General.
